Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe is one of the old and very famous wineries in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It gets its name from an old telegraph station that is said to have been located on a hill on the property. The vineyards and wine estate has been in the Brunier family since the end of the 19th century. Today it is run primarily by Daniel and Frédéric Brunier.
The vineyards of Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe extend over 70 hectares so it is a quite substantial winery. They are located primarily in the area in Chateauneuf that has the famous round stones, the galets roulés. The vineyards are planted primarily with grenache (65%) and with syrah, mourvèdre, cinsaut and smaller quantities of other grapes too. For the white wines they have grenache blanc, clairette, roussanne and bourboulenc.
In the winery they use a mix of old and new technology. They have shining stainless steel fermentation vats but also old concrete tanks as well as big wooden vats.
They make a range of wines from the Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe vineyards as well as wines from other properties they manage: Domaine les Pallières, Domaine La Roquette and even a winery in Lebanon.
